Two Loons
Two loons I see
upon the lake
and I ask them:
Will you teach me?
Dive deep, they say
disappearing beneath
the mirrored surface
And come up for air when you need to.
Blue Heron glides
from tree to shallows
and takes up residence
amongst the reeds
Wait, Heron says
Be still and silent
and what you need
will come to you
What is your name?
I ask the lake
There is no need for names
the water tells me
I AM
As I turn home
Heron parts the reeds
wet fish flash dangling
from the lightning of her beak
